Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay for a subscription?

No. Verba gives you 3 free summaries to try it out. After that, you have two options: a Premium or Diamond subscription, with no key to set up, or free with your own AI key, in Settings › Intelligence › Provider: OpenRouter (hundreds of models), OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral or any OpenAI-compatible server (Ollama, LM Studio…), even a local model. With your own key, there are no Verba limits: you pay your provider directly, and your data goes straight to them, never through Verba.

How do I record from Apple Watch?

Open Verba on your watch and tap the record button, or use double tap on supported models. Tap the star to mark a moment. The audio is transferred to your iPhone in chunks, then erased from the watch; transcription and the summary happen on the iPhone, which must have Verba installed.

Can the Mac record a video call?

Verba on Mac records the Mac’s microphone: it picks up voices audible in the room, but not the computer’s internal audio. With headphones, only your voice is recorded.

How do I sync my devices?

Sign in to the same iCloud account on your devices, turn on iCloud Drive, then turn on “Sync with iCloud” in Verba’s Settings (on by default). Your conversations, notes and attachments then appear everywhere, including on your Mac.

What languages does Verba support?

The app is available in 12 languages. On-device transcription works in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, depending on what your device and its operating system support.

Is my audio sent to a server?

No, not by default: transcription happens on device. Only the text needed for the summary is sent to the AI model you selected, and Verba does not keep it. Audio is sent only if you choose an online transcription engine yourself, with your own key. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Which AI model writes my summaries?

With the free plan, Mistral Small; with Premium, Mistral Large: European models by Mistral AI, called via OpenRouter. With Diamond, you can also choose GPT, Claude or DeepSeek. Settings always show who your transcripts are sent to.

Can I use my own API key?

Yes. In Settings, choose OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral or a compatible server (including a local model), then paste your key. It stays in the device’s keychain; requests go directly to that provider, which bills you at its own rates.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone or iPad: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › Verba. On Mac: App Store › your account › Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. For a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I restore my purchases on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Verba’s subscription screen and tap “Restore Purchases”.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a conversation from the list, or everything at once in Settings › Privacy › “Erase All Data”. Kept indefinitely by default. You can enable automatic deletion after 7, 30 or 90 days, or 1 year in settings. Deletions are carried over to iCloud and your other devices.
